We develop software for kinematics: ASOM for complex concepts and ASOMmini for getting started quickly. We also provide training and consulting, and solve kinematic tasks for you on request.
History
From data mining to ASOM
We founded info-key at the University of Wuppertal, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the university’s “bizeps” project. Our first line of business was data mining: for companies such as ABB, DURA Automotive Systems, EMITEC, Erbslöh and S Broker, we searched large amounts of data for hidden relationships.
Our second topic has been with us since 2000: kinematics. For Volkswagen and KICO, we developed KinSynth, a program for designing four-bar hinges, which in its second stage also handled gas springs. This gave rise to ASOM, short for analysis, synthesis and optimization of multi-bar linkages. Even the first version, ASOMv4, was much more interactive than KinSynth and, with optimization and many other functions, could do far more. It was still limited to four-bar linkages, hence the 4 in its name.
The benefits of kinematics can be shown rather than explained: you see at once how a mechanism moves and which forces act on it. That is why we have focused entirely on kinematics since 2014. The basic idea of ASOM has remained the same: you specify the desired motion, and ASOM creates the right linkage.
