This example illustrates a part of the kinematics of a hospital bed with two different actuators or spindle drives, one for the height adjustment of the entire bed and one for lifting of the foot area.
The corresponding motions are simulated and all necessary forces, such as the actuating forces of the spindle and the shear forces in the bearings, are directly determined and constantly updated over the entire distance of travel.
Sliding friction (based on Coulomb’s friction model) is taken into account in all joints and guides. This is displayed, calculated and animated using the kinematics software or the kinematics synthesis software ASOMv7.
